Draft program presentation

Note that there's notes available from the "Actions" menu.

So:
Any thoughts?
Anyone want to run the panel with me? (I'd prefer someone who identifies as disabled or at least has a moderate amount of experience with disability/chronic illness, but I'm somewhat open)

(nb I deleted the original lj version so I could use the "comments on dreamwidth" counter)

EDIT: But it didn't work! Clearly I need to play around with the crossposter. Anyway here is the lj post and here is the dw one (cross posted since lj is more swancon-ish and dw more disability-ish)

Dude, I nearly lost my comment with you deleting that lj version!

Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on what you think) I was clever and checked here.

Not enough discussion about Oracle. :P
Though I squee-ed embarrassingly when you had a picture of her there. Or it would have been embarrassing had anyone other than Diesel heard me. I think I'm excitable today or something.

That said, I would have thought she was more of a tragic victim rather then the other thing you put her as. Cass Cain would be a better Bat(girl) example of Disability Superpower, given she was unable to talk or read as a direct result of her training (or at least she started out that way).

Er, I can go on about Bat examples for awhile if you want... I'm guessing you don't.

Oops, sorry! I wanted to use the crossposter except it didn't work how I wanted anyway :/ (And then I got a 404 when I first tried to post this comment! Yay code pushes)

A lot of tropes overlap, but since I'm not super familiar with the characters (I just read TV Tropes :)) I'll trust your judgement.

All examples are good! I can always add them to the notes for if other people bring them up or I need some more examples etc.

Hey, you could run the panel with me and say them yourself :D

Haha, I'm not sure I'd be the best person on a disability panel. I'd get all angry and start ranting about Batman. :P

Also at this stage its looking like I'll either be in Bali or Adelaide soaking up the family dramas...

I may add more comments as I think of more stuff if that's cool. I did like your powerpoint.

hm. Actually it's looking more like I'm going to wind up in Perth. So if you still need a panellist. Maybe. (I'm not the most useful person about disability issues really).

Well, I think I can run it by myself if need be but it's always good to have another person there. So, if it interests you I'd be happy to have you, but don't feel obligated. And you can always sit in the audience and add stuff as relevant :)

(Also, just because your birthday thing happened to be the next email in my inbox: stop acting like you're old, it makes me feel ANCIENT :))

Hey, can I get you to find me a picture of Batgirl on google? I might get the wrong one :)

Sure! Er, which Batgirl are you after? Babs, Cass or Steph?

I'm guessing Cass but I want to be sure here.

Whichever one actually has a disability superpower. And then tell me which one that is :)
