Really? Kids at my school were very aware of homosexuality. Sure, it was almost always used as a thing you accused boys of to make them upset, but we were definitely aware of it. When I bumped into a younger girl from my school a few years later she said "You went to that posh girls school right? Aren't they all lesbians? Are YOU a lesbian?".
