As for the future-with-powers, I was thinking perhaps it is just during the eclipse that they have no powers. Or maybe it's between eclipses- the first one turned their powers 'on', this one 'off', the next one 'on' and so forth
But again: wouldn't the company have noticed this pattern before? They've been dealing with powered people for decades. Unless this one is different.
The idea that they will turn of, and then turn on again some time down the road (rather than by the next episode) is pretty interesting though.
