I tend to be much more forgiving of people squeeing uncritically about shiny new problematic canon than people squeeing about about tarnished old problematic canon (unless it's utterly new to that individual at that moment in time). I have someone on my flist who invariably brings the uncritical love of new canon, and sometimes I bask in her glow and sometimes I skip her post because I can't handle it and I recognise that she probably experiences similar feelings about my tendency to critique new canon immediately (and therefore often in a superficial way with the deeper critique appearing in the conversations in comments to my initial post or in subsequent posts). The reason we get on is presumably our mutual understanding that both our approaches are valid. ::shrugs::
Here via... erm... a link somewhere else on t'interwebz probably?
