Aw, thanks :) I was forced to spend more time on it than I would have naturally due to my "No posting new posts till you finish replying to the comments for the last one" rule and some very curly comments to an earlier post.

In my experience, what happens when someone does this is that often, other fans "inside" the fandom react with a quick and dirty, "Well, if you're so unhappy with it, stop watching! Nobody's forcing you." Likewise with fic crit (maybe moreso), in that we're very oriented toward, "If you can't say anything nice..." mode.

Yes, this is definitely a problem. All in all I understand the temptation to take take potshots at other fandoms, but I don't think it's anywhere near as constructive.

Not sure how to fix the problem, apart from as many people as possible making an effort to point this stuff out or at least not attack other people for doing so.
