The thing is, you listen to criticism, you put in explanatory and apologetic notes. I don't think you need to stress too much about the lack of this-sort-of-thing-getting-picked-up-in-beta. Firstly, the betas will never pick up everything anyway, so you have to be prepared to deal gracefully with criticism of the finished product. Secondly you do deal gracefully with criticism of the finished product.

As far as I can tell, fandom-at-large won't label you That Artist (or That Writer) for problems in your work, but for reacting badly to having the problems pointed out.
