So much of the atheist community - whether it's new or old or plus - seems to be exactly like religion in saying "We've got it right and you're all wrong." And honestly, despite being a lifelong atheist, I only really care about religions as they impact on human rights. I actually had this on my mind today because I'm on holiday in South Australia and yesterday went to Penola to visit the Mary MacKillop historical exhibition. Her contributions towards educating poor people - especially girls and women - were amazing, and the fact that she had a religious framework for it does not diminish (or, to me, enhance) her achievements.
