Yeah, I have heard things like that are done well. And I can't really judge it without seeing it. But I just can't see how all but two people dying is a remotely happy ending, and I'm not interested in stories about trying to fix the system which end in overly depressing ways, I get depressed enough in real life. If, like, two thirds of the population died but the rest were free, I could live with that. But not two.
