I absolutely agree with all this and I'm really hoping that by making Wu so useless and Kuvira so popular at this stage they're going to end up with some kind of democratic solution instead, or a break-up of the Earth Kingdom. Even Republic City isn't very democratic - the Council is made up only of benders and it's unclear if non-benders even get to vote (or if Raiko is a bender or not). They really dropped that storyline in Season One and it's never come up again.
