Playing Date Warp, a little indie scifi visual novel/dating sim that was on special recently. It's overall been more fun than I was expecting, even if the science makes NO SENSE and the art is middling to awful.
The first LI I tried is basically a human version of Cole from Dragon Age Inquisition: a younger innocent blonde dude who defines himself entirely by wanting to help others. I was worried when the PC said "But he's younger and prettier than me, is that weird?" but in the end it was a sweet little romance. (nb I would not have dated the ACTUAL Cole. ...I think)
The second was a slightly sleazy poly bisexual mad scientist who's a sweetie deep down. You flirt and talk a lot about science and then he asks if you want to have meaningless sex.
***Spoilers***
EDIT: Ahhhhh it was just the walkthrough I was following, these two things are uncorrelated! SORRY HANAKO. It's actually a pretty cute "friends with benefits maybe leading to something more" ending, if you pick the right unrelated-to-sex choices.
This is all wrong:
******
If you say yes, it IMMEDIETELY fades to black, then he ignores you for the rest of the game, screws up his experiment, and EVERYONE DIES.
If you say no you become ROOMMATES. Room. Mates. WHAT KIND OF DATING SIM IS THIS??
If he is the only LI to have a platonic "good" path I will be very annoyed. Especially since I know one of the other dudes is engaged. If he's not I will still be moderately annoyed since it is implied that his poly bisexual ways are part of the general irresponsible risk seeking behaviour that makes you averse to dating him. I'm fine with platonic paths in principle but not with setting up mogai characters as tittilatingly sexy but too weird to actually date. Admitedly not!Cole shows signs of having a crush on sexy!scientist (and the "good" scientist end has the three of you living together), but nothing you couldn't explain away as platonic affection.
*******
Also the CGI where he propositions you is quite possibly the worst art I have ever seen in a game I paid money for. The others aren't much better. You could pay your average 12 year old on DeviantArt $5 and get better art. Admittedly, I only paid three dollars, and I consider myself to have overall gotten my money's worth, but still.
EDIT: Yep, literally every other dude's path is romantic, even the guy with a fiance: it ends in him single and the girl thinking "I can't say anything right now but maybe one day" and then the narrator saying "she brought him happiness" or something. I mean in every case the emphasis is on finding happiness and a path for the future above romance, and several of them could be headcanoned as platonic if you squint really hard, but the bisexual LI is the only one that felt unambiguously platonic. Also in all the other bad ends someone other than you dies, it's only when you have sex that everyone, including you, dies. HMMPH.
Oh and of course noone actually uses the words 'bisexual' or 'poly' lol lol don't be silly :/
