You get all these people quoting sarcastic parts, like the first line of Pride and Prejudice ("It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife."), as if they're meant sincerely. It puts people in entirely the wrong headspace to understand where she's coming from.
