Totally with you on that. I usually forgo cards altogether, unless it's a situation that a card is all that's needed like a death that I can't get to the funeral for. My reasoning is mostly so i can spend the $2-$5 extra on the present instead, as well as avoiding the card shops.
I just don't really see the need for a card when it's just going to get thrown out in a month-year anyway. why create more rubbish than needed?
