Within about twenty minutes of finding out about atheist_fandom I posted some thoughts about humanist fantasy that have been noodling around in my brain with all the discussion of religion in fandom. It's written for an atheist audience so I didn't bother justifying why I need the occasional antidote to religious fantasy, I'm a little worried it comes across as actively anti-religious which was not my intention.

It is raining! It hasn't rained here in a very long time, even by Western Australian standards. (EDIT: Wow. That was quite a storm! I lost power for a full day! Other people had flooding, golf ball size hailstones, the works!)

comments

Another one! I think I'm done now, at least for the evening :)

EDIT: Here are some other things DW stands for, the only other one which sounds promising to me is "Discworld".

From my lj (the place I tend to post all my creative stuff):

After making my last icon I remember angriest saying that that "DW" made him think of Dr Who, so I decided to google image search Dr Who and see if anything inspiring came up, and there was the perfect image. It's a woman! In pink! In the foreground! With the keys to the Tardis! That's the way fanfic fandom on DW sees itself right there, I would say :) (Fandom may disagree)

Original image. That has to be the quickest icon ever :)

comments

Dreamwidth PSA (and crosspost)

Thought I'd have a go at crossposting and also give a PSA:

If you want a Dreamwidth account, while you are welcome to join the queue you should also definitely get an OpenID account and validate the email address.

This
(a) Lets you comment, create a <strike>Friends</strike> reading list and even have icons, the only basic thing you can't do is post blog entries.
(b)Puts you in the running for an invite, and apparently guarantees you one by the 30th (a weekish from now)

For now, if you do get a proper account you can't join it to your OpenID but that functionality apparently is in the works.

nb I do not intend on crossposting much, since that'd just be annoying for people who've friended me both places. I just wanted to try it out :)

comments
