So I realised I need another disclaimer (4 and 4a)

The trigger for rant-and-crash today was the adrenaline from feeling (irrationally) stressed about going into work again for the first time since October. I will be starting again at two part days a week from next week, ee!

Not that I take back anything I said, necessarily, but it could have been better expressed and at a time when I was more up to dealing with the comments. Also I think the fact I know I'm going back to work means I feel the need to get all my posting done now so I'm not distracted later. I have an equally troublesome rant about racism I've been putting off posting for several days since I'm still catching up on comments from the sexuality post a few days ago. Life would be much easier if I only felt like talking about maths and wire crochet...

Congrats on planning on heading back into work!

(There's a thing on ABC or SBS to-night, Nigger Lovers, which might interest you? It's about racism in Australia - I think a while back you said something about wanting more non-American things?)

Oooh, thanks! 9:30 ABC, for anyone reading who might be interested.

Totally know what you mean, as you would've seen from my earlier counter-rant and retraction. I've been a bit keyed up today about the whole job-hunting thing: there's a bit too much up in the air for me at the moment.

Good luck with your return to work.

Er. I fear I might have made that worse.

May work go smoothly!

Thanks, good luck with your worky stuff too.

And your comments were useful: I spent so long reading them and thinking about what I would say in reply it rather sapped my momentum and made me stop and think for a moment :)

Oh no, you made interesting and thoughtful replies to a post asking for people's opinions. How selfish! :)

Thanks.

I've just friended you (leaping around the great cultural appropriation and racism debate of doom!) because I noticed the words "maths" and "crochet" in close proximity, and I thought you must be my kind of people :-).

Hi! I'm actually an evolutionary geneticist, but have a strong background in maths, and I like crafty and textile things, including hyperbolic crochet. I hang around the feminist corner of fandom, near as I can tell, here on LJ.

Hello! I have to warn you, that last line was an ironic reference to the fact that I USED to talk about maths and wire crochet all the time (in like 2006) but now only seem to talk about stuff like fanfic and racism (and feminism, so you might be ok there)

Out of curiosity, am I linked somewhere I didn't notice, or did you just like the look of one of my comments?

I like your take on racism in fandom. (I'm white and not going to pretend I have any answers, other than "don't embarrass the rest of us white folk by denying racism pointed out by the people something is being racist at")

I don't remember the trail from my journal to yours anymore. I began with [livejournal.com profile] coffeeandink and [livejournal.com profile] matociquala, both on my friendslist. From then I quickly found myself in [livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong, [livejournal.com profile] deepad, [livejournal.com profile] ithiliana, [livejournal.com profile] shewhohashope, and [livejournal.com profile] sparkymonster's ljs.
I am fairly confident someone in the comments of a post by one of those people mentioned that you'd said something sensible in your lj.

So someone, somewhere is saying nice things about me. I guess I can live that :)
