Wednesday, October 1st, 2008 09:26 am
What: Watch the next 3 "best" episodes of Stargate: "There but for the grace of God" and the season 1/season 2 double episode "Within the Serpents Grasp/Lair"
When: 6pm for a 6:30ish start, Wednesday 8th October. Any time before 9:30pm is ok if you don't missing bits/being quiet as you come in.
Where: My house. If you're not on the filter for that post (and I suck at filters so that may be lots of people) email/IM/comment etc and I'll tell you my address
Who: Anyone who knows and likes me well enough to hang out for a few hours and would get some enjoyment out of watching SG1. If you haven't seen the show before you'll figure it out, it's not very deep or complex :)
What to bring: Any snack food you wish to eat, and if neccesary your own dinner. I will provide nothing but chairs and a tv(*) :P

Also: I've been prety much constantly under the weather recently, so will probbaly kick people out quite sharply not long after the last episode so I can sleep. Please do not take this personally :)

(*)I'm fine with people having a mass pizza order or something, but since I have such wierd food issues will leave that to you guys to figure out for yourselves. I'll have some menus for local places to hand.

Has anyone else been having trouble posting? I wrote this yesterday morning but only just got it to actually post.

We went to Alex and Liz's wedding on Sunday, it was lovely. They looked really pretty, and we got the kick-back from them using our celebrant(*). And then at the reception there was food I could eat! More than one dish! Afaict the vegans and gluten-free types were happy too. That is quite an achievement :) Overall it was just really great.

Also, since everyone's always suprised when they see it, this gives me a chance to show people Cam's awesome new beard (since he takes all the photos I don't have many of him). No he does not dye it!

Photos from Cam will eventuate eventually, but since I'm still waiting from Swancon...

(*)Ok, not really, but it was nice to say hello and go "Hey look, we're still not divorced!"

So, after several months of me taking more and more days off work and being less and less productive on the few days when I did drag myself in, I and my manager discussed it and I'm just not going to go in again until I'm better enough to be able to work consistently (exact amount of time off to be decided after I can find a decent doctor who knows anything about chronic fatigue). Which on the one hand is, obviously, a hugely bad sign about my health and future, but on the other is a major relief since it got to the point where the effort of just choosing what to wear was more than I could handle most days.

I thought about locking this and disabling comments, since I'm not really in the mood to discuss it and don't need sympathy (it's not like it's a sudden shock, and I'm..not always good with well meant sympathy) but hopefully this way I can avoid a lot of awkward "So hows work?" conversations.

Anyway, expect a lot of ill thought out lj posts in the near future since I have nothing else to do and if nothing else it stops me wandering around tiring myself out :) Unless lj decides to stop me posting again!

Note: I am posting links to two posts in anti-racist communities. Keep in mind that the assumption is that readers are familiar and agree with anti-racist ideas so they're not explained or excused, and I'd rather you reply here unless you genuinely mean to join them (in which case, as always, read the userinfo first!) Also, as I say in the first post, please do not use this as a chance to snipe at other people's religious groups.

So a while ago I posted a post called How to reconcile anti-racism with atheism (or other religious belief) to [livejournal.com profile] debunkingwhite, and thought about posting it here since it's something I'm interested to discuss with other atheists but at the time didn't feel up to dealing with the discussion. But hey it's not like I have anything better to do at the moment...

I actually think Towards an Intersectionality of Atheism and Race is a better post on the subject, though :)
