Heh. Every time I have to go back through my lj to find a recent post I am surprised at how much I have written since then :)

Also: I decided that since I make so many stargate posts I should have a stargate icon, and as it happens I made one a while ago from this fanart (Ok, yes, it's Atlantis, that's still closer than Torchwood)

Have been skimming through the Canadian guidelines on CFS/ME, which are supposedly the best document on the illness and since it's so long thought I would make notes as I go. This is mainly for myself!

An early birthday present

OMG OMG! Yay! *happy dance*

I mean, I know Obama, like Kevin Rudd, is just a politician, and there's going to be lots of compromises and backroom deals and random stupid crap (hello internet filter) But he doesn't totally suck. Which right now is more than enough to warm the cockles of my little heart :)

*no really, I am doing a little happy dance right now. Doopy doopy do*

EDIT:
President-elect Obama earned laughs from the crowd when he thanked his two young daughters.
"You have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House," he said.

So if he lost, they wouldn't have gotten a puppy? *imagines ads going "Vote for Obama or these adorable girls...miss out on a puppy!"* Not that he needed the help, as it turned out.

Jar o' steam

Something mildly cool I haven't noticed before:

I emptied a big, very cold, mostly empty jar of pasta sauce into a bubbling, steaming pan. I then put some tap water into it and to my surprise a bunch of misty water vapour came out. I poured the saucy-water into the pan and captured some more steam, and it sat inside the jar, swirling, for quite a while (got bored of watching pretty quick, but lets say at least 30 seconds). I guess it's the combo of hot, humid air and cold jar, but it's funny I haven't noticed it do that the gazillion other times I've cooked the same way.

And in unrelated news: chicken thighs? Also tasty in pasta sauce. And if anyone's coming tonight I made these oatmeal pumpkin cookies, they're not bad for healthy biscuits but I think next time I'll add walnuts and ginger (I am SUCH a sucker for american style sweet spiced pumpkin, so I've been trying to find a satisfying but relatively heathy way to eat it)

Stargate 5: a new beginning

What: Watch the next 3 "best" episodes of Stargate: The season 3/4 double episodes "Nemesis" and "Small Victories", and then either "Upgrades" or "Window of Opportunity"
When: 6pm for a 6:30ish start, Wednesday 19th November. Any time before 9:00pm is ok if you don't missing bits/being quiet as you come in.
Where: My house. If you're not on the filter for that post (and I suck at filters so that may be lots of people) email/IM/comment etc and I'll tell you my address
Who: Anyone who knows and likes me well enough to hang out for a few hours and would get some enjoyment out of watching SG1. If you haven't seen the show before you'll figure it out, it's not very deep or complex :)
What to bring: Any snack food you wish to eat, and if neccesary your own dinner. I will provide nothing but chairs and a tv(*) :P

Also: I've been prety much constantly under the weather recently, so will probbaly kick people out quite sharply not long after the last episode so I can sleep. Please do not take this personally :)

(*)I'm fine with people having a mass pizza order or something, but since I have such wierd food issues will leave that to you guys to figure out for yourselves. I'll have some menus for local places to hand.
