I don't know a lot about American cooking, but I'm pretty sure Oreo-type cookies are not remotely related to Creole cuisine. According to Wikipedia they were aimed at the British market and developed in New York.
But Mr Cooper today disputed the racist claims and said the name Creole Creams referred to the "well-known Creole cuisine style that originated in the US.''
