So Stargate Night was a worthy experiment, and ended in the middle of season 7. I thought I would do a summary of how I felt about the first 6 seasons, maybe doing the rest if and when I watch them.
Episodes from this list, ones added by Cam in italics. They do tend to be the ones I disliked...
Overall: cheesey, silly, unoriginal, but often fun and thrilling if you don't think too hard and some genuinely interesting ideas here and there. So Racist OMG.
Season One
Children of the Gods (2 part pilot): SO CHEESEY. And the racism was layed on pretty thick, two women are killed under identical circumstances, one white and blonde, one non-white. Guess which one is degradingly stripped?
Solitudes: Nice little Sam and Jack character piece, actually feels kind of like science fiction.
There But for the Grace of God: Quite good alternate universe story, and since in some ways it's also a glimpse into a horrible possible future adds some nice tension to the season finale
Within the Serpent's Grasp: Reasonably thrilling space opera action season end cliff hanger
Season 2
The Serpent's Lair: Watch the thrilling conclusion!
The Fifth Race: Ok Jack-and-G'uald piece.
1969: Fun silly timetravel-to-the-60s
Fair Game: This managed to make no impression on me, even reading the synopsis I don't remember it.
Missed: Point of View, The Devil You Know
Season 3
Foothold: Reasonably engaging "Has the world gone mad or just me?" scifi/action plot
Shades of Grey: Somewhat predictable but does look into how other parts of the military see the Stargate program
Crystal Skull: Good if a bit cheesey, involving a mysterious ancient crystal skull and being out of phase with reality.
Nemesis: Good scifi/action, introduces very important antagonist.
Season 4
Small Victories: And in the thrilling conclusion...
Upgrades:The team gains new abilities via an alien device. But at what cost...(ok)
Window of Opportunity: Ground hog day! Great.
2010: Set in a future totally changed by an new alien species met through the Stargate. Actual science fiction! I love this episode.
Double Jeopardy: Pretty good. Hard to describe without spoiling it.
Exodus: Another exciting space opera season finale
Season 5
Enemies: Terrible flashback episode about Teal'c. Does tie up some loose ends.
Ascension: Sam gets another doomed magical boyfriend. Yawn.
The fifth man: Nice but not spectacular little self contained sf story.
2001: Sequel to 2010, where they try figure out and avoid the alternate future. I think they make a good pair of episodes.
Wormhole X-treme!: Set on the set of a B-grade tv version of Stargate. Lots of fun.
Proving ground: This kind of felt like Stargate, but with teenagers! Meh.
Meridian: HUGELY important and quite good episode.
Season 6
Abyss: Jack character piece, quite good
Full Circle: Again, hugely important, also exciting space opera season finale.
