Creativity is HARD

On NaNoWriMo (EDIT: it does put things in perspective...).

Also, xkcd=cool. Because didn't we all think that?

Am home sick from work but not feeling so bad any more, just kind of stupid. Had two inspirations for Angel fanvids today, becuase my muse likes making me suffer (I don't even own the show, I could get Buffy ideas but noooo) One to "Baby on Board", which any of you who have seen the show can probably imagine and be glad I'm currently standing firm in my "Fanvids are too much goddamn work" policy.

Did I mention I'm reading the "His Majesties Dragon" series? They're quite enjoyable, if not super deep or anything. Got "The Beauty Myth" out of the library but that's waiting till my brains a bit more awake. Today is definitely a "rereading Lois McMaster Bujold" day. Speaking of which, who has my copy of "Paladin of souls", I want it back.

Also, I love my job. I mean it's fun (if tiring) to do, and the hours are flexible, but also the people are just nice. Got a pretty friendly voicemail from my manager considering that from her point of view I just didn't turn up to work today for no reason (I did leave a message saying I was sick but she didn't get it) And I've been getting quite positive feedback on my performance, which is a nice change from the general impression I got of being the worst postgrad in the dept (admitedly I think this is a common perception amongst postgrads) I mean I think I'm a good tutor, but that counts for very little (except to the students of course, bless 'em).

Pretty sure I have Paladin of Souls. What is the easiest way to get it back to you? (I also have a roleplaying book of Cameron's to give back to him)

Ummm......dunno? Let me get back to you when my brain isn't mush :)

(Also: I didn't get comment notifications for these, disturbing)

Comment notifications are kinda broken for me too. I'm not getting them for comments on my journal, but I am for replies to comments I have left on other journals.

It was a harmless blog site, enjoyed by many, until one stormy night a mysterious storm caused it to crash. The site came back online soon, but it was CHANGED. And now it will be giving people a lot more than email notification. This summer's biggest horror smash, The Comment Notifier. (Rated R 18+)

for a coupe of seconds there I though you'd joined NaNoWriMo....

"His Majesties Dragon" huh? I've been looking at that series. Any good? And can I borrow them when you're done?

I think you'd enjoy it but it's not like "OHMIGOD you HAVE to read this". We haven't got book 3 yet and Cam is still finishing book 2 (I stole it :)) but book 1 you're welcome to borrow. They're both stand alone stories in sequence, so you can stop at book one. See, other authors of fantasy trilogies, it can be done!

Hmm. I have a complicated reply to this and am feeling far to sick to write it since I have a nasty throat infection. So I'll just say I'm glad I could help, and I hope you don't mind that a bunch of people who read my lj seem to have followed the link you left to your lj and replied to your post.

I have NEVER EVER been a bully at school or now and yes I was beatten up at school and bad bad things happend to me and wheather it's through school, work, home where ever I just want to have an ear for them and a safe place where they can be anybody the want to be....which brings me to my next point. I wud appriate it if you never use my real name thenk you KA wll do just fine. if you have any questions for me please don't hesitate to ask but please don't be rude because you don't know what I've been through so no one has the right to jugje or assum with out getting the facts straight first. and yes I am a writter and a good speeler to it's just that I've rushed this, this print's too small as I'm legally blinde

Joining and posting to Communities

[personal profile] alias_sqbr 2006-11-09 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, here is my suggested approach to getting involved with a livejournal bullying community

1) Choose one from the list I gave you, [livejournal.com profile] bullying looks pretty good
2) Read the userinfo, this will tell you what the community is about
3) Read a few recent posts to see if you're interested in what the're talking about and to get a feel for the tone
4) If after all that you decide you really do like them, join the community. There is a link saying "To join this community *click here*" at the top of the userinfo page, just under the heading "Community Info" (This link is easy to miss, it took me a while to figure this out) Now any new posts on that community will show up in your friendslist.
5) (optional) Post a few RELEVANT replies to any posts that interest you. Do NOT cut and paste, do NOT promote your own lj, just try to get involved in the discussion
6) (optional) Post something interesting and on-topic to the community. Make sure it follows any rules on the userinfo page or it will be deleted. I thoroughly recommend you carefully spellcheck it, I know you have trouble reading computer text but people can be really picky about that sort of thing (Just becuase they're on a bullying community doesn't mean they won't be picky, that's just the way people are)

I know you're impatient to promote your own lj but I think you have more to gain by actually joining the community and discussing things with people, as I said if they like what you have to say then they'll check out your lj on their own. You might be able to get away with an introductory post saying "Hi, I'm kookyaquarian, I have a lj about bullying you might be interested in" but only do this if you genuinely want to get involved with their community or it's really rude. And I wouldn't do this until you actually have some advice about bullying on your lj, which you don't yet.
