Here are my non-spoilery thoughts.
SPOILERRRRRSSSSSS
So it turns out that no, really, all women are whores. Even Caroline. I hate the trope that all women have it in us to seduce men to get what we want. Though her seduction of Bennet was much more interesting, and I liked that the image we have of her at the start of the show, the video we see, is a lie. Bennet mind you couldn't seduce anyone (on purpose)... and she is broken and then dies (and dies defined by her love-interestyness).
I think Dollhouse has to be the anti-sexiest show ever, but alas it is not the anti-sexist-iest show ever. It takes all the fun out of seeing Eliza Dushku pout, and has even retroactively spoiled bits of Firefly for me. I can't imagine writing shippy/sexy stories for this fandom, though I do find myself with somewhat of a yen for some deeply awkward and deliberately unsexy sexually charged gen, kind of like that scene where Saunders tries to seduce Topher. I can't help but imagine there must have been some strangeness between Boyd and Clyde-in-Whiskey.
Wasn't it..funny that in the end it was men being all kickass and women-who-aren't-the-super-special-Echo passively trailing after their manly man? DeWitt stayed mostly cool but still didn't do much in the end.
And oh, Mellie. God. I just...of course. Madeline is too prone to making her own decisions, not to mention missing the convenient instant-angsty-fridging button.
Cam apparently had to leave the room and make inarticulate noises at me ("You should watch this! Then I can rant to you about how angry it makes me!" "Gee, that sounds appealling") when Ballard was all "Boyd! We must work together to bring down that evil bitch deWitt!" But I loved it: finally the show hated Ballard as much as I do! And then when Boyd turns and he's all ":( I do not understand". Heh.
Ah Boyd. I thought he was an interesting villain for a bit but in the end he was just..crazy and weird and hard to believe.
I'll admit the one thing that really did surprise me in the end: Priya and Anthony, happy and not dead.
