Ahahaha Supernatural (5.19)
So Cam was watching Supernatural and I had my headphones on listening to music instead. But he knocked on my shoulder "This is actually pretty good." he said. Yeah..guess how long that lasted.
The premise of season 5 is the Christian Apocalypse, with angels and demons fighting. The subtext of the show overall is very much that Christianity is the only real religion, and everything else is just superstition.
In this episode the other Gods decide they're sick of the Christian God's minions causing so much crap. Kali (played by an actual South Asian-American actor..as kind of an evil slut, apparently) rants about Western Gods thinking they run everything. Cam decides this is a cool subversion of the Christianity-centrism and tells me about it.
And within a few minutes of me turning around to watch...Lucifer arrives. He mocks Mercury for being "a pathetic pagan", even worse than humans for letting "us" (Demons? Christianity?) take over the world. He then kills Odin, Baldur and Ganesh with a single swish of his hands. He's about the kill Kali who is cowering in the traditional woman-in-a-Supernatural-episode prone-on-the-floor position when Gabriel intervenes, and Kali escapes (I still can't believe it. I guess she can be fridged next time she turns up).
And then Gabriel gives his final message to Sam and Dean via porn.
WHAT.
(And no, Cam did not think it was a good episode by the end)
