Word to the Wise: Unpacking the White Privilege of Tim Wise

The problem with that is that Wise only debates individuals with views more conservative than his own. This way he can continue to promote himself as the most radical anti-racist voice on the scene when he is not – not even among whites.

Tim Wise isn't a big deal in Australia, but I found this particular criticism interesting to think about.

I've watched a few Tim Wise videos; this really focussed the vague feeling of discomfort I was starting to experience. Of course, being white myself, it's easier for me to behave like him than not, in a sense.

Yes, I got a vague...something from some of his stuff but couldn't put my finger on it. I try and avoid white antiracist stuff by people I don't know unless there's a specific reason to listen to them as opposed to some POC/non-white person saying the same thing(*) anyway.

(*)Eg, when it's an obscure topic and there is no POC/non-white person talking about it that I know of.
