Loosely inspired by the anonymous comment memes: I would like EVERYONE who sees this post to comment on it.

That includes people whose flists I'm on, people I know who don't have ljs, strangers who came accross it randomly via friend-of-friends, even random surfers who accidentally come accross it googling(*) for something unrelated in a couple of years time. Everyone.

You don't have to say anything deep, you don't have to say anything at all. I will not judge you for reading this even if we barely know each other or don't at all. It would be nice if anonymous commenters could identify themselves ("Hi, you don't know me, I came across this googling for pancake recipes" is more than enough :)) but as long as everyone only posts once(**) I'll live.

If you want some direction on what to post, some ideas:
-the first thing that pops into your head
-a book recommendation
-how you came accross this post (though too many "Via my friends list" entries could get kinda dull)
-A smiley face
-The word "cheese!" (or, as [livejournal.com profile] the_riviera_kid suggests, "Pancake recipes" :))
-anything else you feel like. Though IP logging is not off, this isn't that kind of meme :) And I will probably avoid replies since it'd be nice for the number of comments to roughly match the number of commenters.

(*)Or whatever it is we'll be doing to find stuff online once the singularity/apocolypse comes
(**)Replying to other people's comments is ok I guess, but I want to make sure there's only one comment thread per person.

Pancake recipes are easily disposed of, people always end up doing it by "feel" after a bit of practice.

I'll recommend Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. It's a good book with magic and creepy, mad fairies galore. :)

(PS. My girlfriend is from Perth, I'm going to recite that rhyme to her the next time I get to see her!)

Perth being what it is I probably know her :)

I tried to read that book and got bogged down. I shall try again one day.

Also, two pages of comments! Yay!

It's starting to get cold here. There's been snow on the mountains, apparently.

Last night I drove over to visit [livejournal.com profile] oothoona to say hi briefly and chat about redecorating her bedroom (she's bought a whole lot of shelving and has Plans.) Her bedroom is very calm[1] and somewhat soporiffic - I almost accidentally fell asleep, which was a bit of a worry because I had to drive home again. Fortunately the cold air outside woke me up.

There's a mobile made of brightly coloured sea urchins and driftwood hanging from one of the windows. The room is full of purples and plum-colours.

I suppose that if I say it's cold here too you'll just laugh :)

This is an interesting project.
Also, pancake recipes could definitely make it more interesting. :)

The I-think-memes-suck meme:

1. What were you doing at this time 10 years ago?
2. What's your favourite atmospheric layer?
3. Stealthy ninja or noble samurai?
4. List the first five objects you can think of that start with the letter '6'.
5. What's your best pancake recipe containing cheese?

Much gratitude for unbending enough to do mine :P

Hi Sophie, since the point is random replies, there's no-one more random than Rob. By the by, I saw Cameron on the CAT bus this morning. It's Wednesday 23/05/07, 10 AM.

Who needs a pancake recipe?

x cups of flour
0.75x to 1x cups of milk
1/8x tsp salt
1x eggs
+- 1x tbsp brown sugar
+- 1/2x tsp baking powder

Mix together in any way you feel suitable, in a lump-reducing fashion.

Pour small bits into a small pan and fry until cooked as much as you like, flip, repeat.

Make twice as many as you think you're going to want. Serve with something sweet. Or something savoury.

How does one have -1 tbsp sugar? Is that so when you add syrup you don't get any calories?

Hi Sophie.

The cake party was good! :D

Boop.

Literally the first thing that came into my head.

Now I'm wondering whether you'll believe me ... now I'm wondering whether you'll find this funny ... now I'm wondering whether that's too needy ... now I'm getting tired of typing ... now I'm wondering whether my manager will notice ... now I'm bored.

La.

Pfft. Like you could think of something like "Boop" off the top of your head. I'm suprised you manage to come up with it at all.

Also, I notice you have suddenly become singaporean :)

I do enjoy a good Richard Morgan.

Of course, now that I've noticed that 'book recommendation' was one of your directions I'm tempted to change this comment to something else. I will resist.

Hello! I feel vaguely guilty about not putting the time into that bookclub thing I thought I would, as I think it could have been a lot of fun.

SCENTED LOVE

I am the ocean
You are the sand
I am the sea shell
In your hand

Bodies entwined
Flesh smelling so sweet
The art of making love
Every time, so unique

Riding the waves
Feeling the emotion
Waiting for that
Earth shattering explosion

Tossing and turning
Feeling the agony
Realizing that all
Is all but a distant memory

I THINK THIS CAME FROM A SAUCEY DREAM I HAD ONE NIGHT… (????)

this is all i can think of in my responce to this....

The first thing that came into my head was I should think of something interesting to reply. That was a few days ago. Hmmm, Norah Vincent's book "Self-made man" was interesting. She impersonated a man for over a year and wrote about her experiences including in a monastery.
Monday, May 28th, 2007 07:19 am (UTC)
Heh. Yes, that always happens to me with memes which is why I gave options like just saying "cheese" :)

Though that is interesting.
Sunday, May 27th, 2007 11:31 am (UTC)
I haven't read my friendslist in about 3 weeks, so I'm coming a bit late to the party... although I guess you want everyone who looks at this post ever to comment, so maybe not after all!

I like pancakes, but only gluten-free ones.
Monday, May 28th, 2007 07:19 am (UTC)
Exactly! It's interesting to see the range of response times.

So, your pancake recipe but would be like mine, but "take pancakes and cheese. Throw away pancakes.." :)

I've always loved The Price (http://www.bitchwick.com/amacker/bean/price.html), by Mr Neil Gaiman.
Solaris by Stanislaw Lem (http://www.angelfire.com/biz4/dacat/stuff/Lem__Stanislaw_-_Solaris.rtf) has always been a worthwhile read, as has both Repent, Harlequin said the Ticktockman (http://www.angelfire.com/biz4/dacat/stuff/Ellison__Harlan_-_Repent__Harlequin_said_the_Ticktockman.rtf) and I have no mouth and I must scream (http://www.angelfire.com/biz4/dacat/stuff/Ellison__Harlan_-_I_Have_No_Mouth_And_I_Must_Scream.rtf) by Harlan Ellison.
I'm pretty sure I've recced Lord of Light (http://www.angelfire.com/biz4/dacat/stuff/Roger_Zelazny_-_Lord_of_Light.rtf) and Jack of Shadows (http://www.angelfire.com/biz4/dacat/stuff/Roger_Zelazny_-_Jack_Of_Shadows.txt) by Roger Zelazny, but just in case I haven't here they are.
