Before the o.O...

So, about yesterday afternoon (rather than yesterday night)

I was going to buy two things yesterday: a video ipod and a copy of "Legacy" by Lois McMaster Bujold

They were out of video ipods, and told me I should wait till September since there's a fair chance of an announcement about new models.
I go into "White Dwarf" and the guy spends a while looking for any copies then sadly says "The only one we have is an order, it's been waiting for ages and we can't get in contact with them, but I can't sell it to you :("

I look at the name. "Ah" says I "They will not be coming to pick that up. I know, because I was a bridesmaid at their wedding in Singapore, where they now live".

So: [livejournal.com profile] nico_wolfwood, you should contact White Dwarf Books :)

I then wandered up to "Fantastic planet", who did have a copy plus a bunch of interesting people I chatted to before grabbing dinner, catching a train, and seeing a lightshow.

I just finished the book, it follows on nicely enough from "The Sharing Knife Book 1" but as with that I would have prefered less romance, more plot/ideas. But I'm not really the target audience.

eh, you win some you lose some, do you have a mp3 player that will suffice for the time being as they're probably right.

Yeah, my pda can play mp3s, the only issue is you have to play each individually which means it's only really good for podcasts.

One of my friends from high school is the iPod/iTunes Product manager for Australia.. he just mentioned he's flying off to the US today. I suspect the two are not unrelated :)
