You know what keeps your mind off being sleepy due to not enough sleep?

Gastro(*).

*sighs a self pitying and uncomfortable sigh*

Stuff I have discovered which is distratcing me from that (and the fact that I'm quite hungry, but probably shouldn't eat. Though, you know, we all know where that leads(**)...):
Cute, short, gen Good omens fic with a link to the most disturbing menu ever. If I wasn't already feeling queasy...(Really, even you non fanfic people should just scroll to the link at the end) From [livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine.
This amusing summary of the aussie election. I don't agree with all of it, but it's amusing. Found via [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes.

And now I may try napping under less than optimal circumstances.

(*)Or possibly food poisoning. Something like that. My digestive system is a bad place right now, more even than is normal for me. And everything tastes of soap, initially I thought it was the smell of the hairdye/product but I washed that off ages ago and there was no hairdye in my lunch :/
(**)I really should change that page to no longer say "recent" but "2004" (was it 2004? A few years ago anyway)

Did you have a chicken pizza from Dominos Canning Vale last night?

No, not even slightly. (though it would have been freaky if I had)

Why, did you?

No, but a couple of people I know did, and both have come down with gastro.

Have you read The Science of Discworld? I'm rereading it, and this bit made me smile:

Of course, [Bursar] was a natural mathematician, and one thing a natural mathematician wants is to get away from actual damn sums as quickly as possible and slide into those bright sunny uplands where everything is explained by letter in a foreign language

Yes I have, and that is so true :) I am always somewhat at a loss for words when people say things like "So, a Phd in maths, you like..add up numbers all day?"
