Someone finally commenting on my Stargate rant prompted me to get around to porting over those blog entries I will conceivably want to link to in the future. There are surprisingly few...

Saw "V for Vendetta" yeserday, I really liked it. I can see why fans of the comic didn't, since they did change quite a bit, but given I read it something like seven years ago, and didn't 100% like it, I didn't feel too dissapointed. I geuss it's a matter of expectations: after Watchmen, a riff on 1984 (no matter how well written and powerful) felt unoriginal and implausible, while after "Matrix Revolutions" it wasn't hard for the Wachowskis to look good :) As a film on it's own merits it's thought provoking (though not THAT deep) and entertaining, which is how you have to take it. The cool scences did make me want to reread the graphic novel, must make space in my busy scedule to pop into unisfa.

Also Deadwood has really grown on me. I and Cam watched the season one finale last night and I find myself really wanting to see season 2 even though I wasn't that engaged for the first several episodes.

Oh! And the vanilla fruit tea+ pear juice thing at Retro Betties is glorious. Mmm. Tried replicating it at home today, created a horrible crime against fruit. At least it was healthy!

Yes but I don't really like Hellblazer, so even a halfway enjoyable movie is a good adaptation to me :) A more Constantine-y Constantine would have been cool, though.

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] nico_wolfwood tends to enjoy movies more (ie is less likely to go "OMYGOD how could you recommend such piece of CRAP??") with lower expectations.
