There are two ways to watch this movie:
1) As a kooky french romance about two free spirits. In this sense, it is unrealistic and irritating, with unlikable characters who never think of, or really experience, the consequences of their actions.

2) As a "Heavenly Creatures" like portrayal of the inner fantasy life of two adrenaline-junkie sociopaths who are doomed to cause misery for themselves and everyone around them. In this sense it is somewhat enjoyable if a little muddled.

Cam saw the first movie and I the second :) Of course, looking at the reviews some people saw the first movie and liked it, but I shall ignore them. I think the director was going for something in between and didn't quite get there.

Also, I was inspired to make this by the cover: Love or dare?

That image is really really cool.

Heh, thanks. I'm a little paranoid that I subconsciously stole it from somewhere (I have looked at a LOT of ambigrams) but this was the closest I could find.

To me it l ooked like "dare" at first glance.

But can you see the love, man? (Or at least, see the dove. Or the lare)

I can see the "love" yeah. And the "dove". Some kind of auto-correct mechanism in my brain makes it hard to see the "lare".

But wait: just write a schlocky thriller based around your cryptic symbol and you're home and hosed.

I think I'd prefer to write a cheesy mystery for kids, but yes :)

I'm pretty sure I could turn your cheesy kids mystery into a Dan Brown novel by
  • aging all the characters 10-15 years
  • introducing at least two gruesome murders by strangling, poisoning or drowning
  • re-describing the female characters to make them implausibly sexually attractive
  • adding a sex scene
Not that I've ever read a Dan Brown novel. But I hear that's how they're done. Hmm, I should get to work converting the "Three Investigators" oeuvre for personal gain, toute de suite!

Heh, pretty much except it was actually pretty tame sexiness wise (and overall rather bland). I'd still prefer to write a kids book :)
