Going against my anti-meme policy because the result is amusing. I must admit my contrary streak made me deliberately choose some "wrong" answers on questions I thought were annoyingly worded, on the whole it has the problem you are bound to get with this sort of test, the assumption that there's an objective, linear measure of "feministness", and that there's a single correct "most feminist" response to any given issue.

Your Score: The Basic Feminist

You are 78% on your way to being a Feminist!

You're a Feminist! Congratulations!

You have a good idea of what sexism is, how to avoid it, and how to stand up for women and/or yourself. You might have read some basic Feminist literature or thought in passing, and thought that it was pretty good. Sometimes you baulk a little at overtly identifying yourself as a Feminist due to the negative stigma. Don't be ashamed of being right! Just keep on doing what you're doing and exploring more ways to treat everyone with respect because of their humanity, not their parts, and you're helping to fix the problem!

Many of the questions bugged me in the way they were worded, the assumptions being made.

I'm also offended that my brand of feminism ("Basic Feminist") is deemed to be 'on the way to being a feminist', rather than being a moderate feminist (and not an extremist).

Me too, a little (I went in expecting a stupid result), though I'm more offended on behalf of the reciptients of the other results :)

The True Feminist

You are 0% on your way to being a Feminist!

You are a fellow Patriarchy Blaming Feminist, my bosom-buddy in the Sanctimonious Women's Studies set. You know sexism where you see it, and you're not afraid to call it out! You know a lot about Feminism, and you got your head on straight when it comes to politics too. In general, you're just pretty awesome and you judge people for who they are, not what arrangement of parts they have and the roles they are expected to play.

P.S.

If you liked my test and want to bitch about sexism and talk about Feminism with me, feel free to message me. Us Feminists got to stick together!

I got 86%. There was only one question that lacked an answer I was okay with, actually, but I agree the wording was less than perfect.

I remember getting very very angry at that meme, a while ago.

Also I am being slack and haven't replied to your previous post because I'm having alot of trouble putting it all into words. I will reply eventually though. :P

I went in expecting it to be stupid, which helped.

I got 84% in the quiz and alot of the questions bugged me and alot I didn't know how to answer them so I roughly guessed .
Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 07:24 am (UTC)
Heh. See, I'm pretty sure I guessed the "right" answer to most of them, it was just that I didn't agree.

Then again, Cam deliberately tried for "wifebeater" and was very sad to only get "anti feminist"
*ponders trying for a 100% score*

The fact that 'Egalitarian' is presented as an ignorant and undesirable option ("The bad news is that you probably do some sexist things yourself like calling women whores or expecting people to adhere to fairly narrow gender roles.") shits me right off, and I haven't even done the test. The author clearly has some strange ideas about the definitions of the terms they use.
Monday, April 14th, 2008 05:43 am (UTC)
Apparently that's me. And also apparently I have "strange ideas about gender" issues and "haven't taken the time to think about sexism".

The thing about this test that irritated me was that some of the questions only had stupid options and I was forced to pick the least stupid option.
Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 07:24 am (UTC)
Yeah, that was pretty dumb.
Monday, April 14th, 2008 04:57 am (UTC)
84% (true feminist) - but several of the questions I didn't agree with any of the options.
Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 07:28 am (UTC)
Well, you beat me :)
Monday, April 14th, 2008 11:08 am (UTC)
I got 94% but I think that anyone who did an Arts degree would talk that talk.
Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 07:31 am (UTC)
Heh, I guess I am about 78% arts student :)
Monday, April 14th, 2008 12:21 pm (UTC)
I got 96% a "True Feminist".

This despite finding the wording patronising, sexist blah etc blah.
The kind of righteous, prescriptive "I'm not warping theory, I'm being a bad ass radical!" tone that, yeah, reminds me of snarky Arts undergrads.

I wanted to be the Stepford one, because she has a nice matching kitchenware set.
I choose to believe that her vacant expression is, in fact, an ironic hommage to Rodin's "The Thinker".

Pfft, clearly you're just not a real feminist :)

My husband made a deliberate try for "wifebeater" and only got "anti feminist" which he found very dissapointing (I'm not sure if this makes him more or less feminist than if he'd succeeded)
