Had a VERY annoying day today: my left foot is giving me sharp pains every time I take a step wearing shoes, which (apart from being unpleasant) meant I had to make do with what Sophie-friendly food I could get in the work canteen/had frozen, and didn't do my walk after work, and both of these have made me cranky.

But! I have drawn the next prompt. No points for guessing who suggested "A horse pretending to be a hippogryph in order not to be eaten by gryphons" :)

The griffin is wearing Kira's "You just woke me up, prepare to die" expression :) I realise it's not griffins, but this is the mental image the prompt gave me (inspired very much by the one from Alice in Wonderland, I discovered after looking for reference pics)

Now that i look at this pic again (still brilliant BTW) my mind keeps replacing the brown horse with a white horse so it looks like a fancy dress Valdemar companion confronting a Gryphon.

Heh, I can see that, though they might do a bit better than duct tape and cardboard.

In my head, the horse has been chosen to ask the gryphon for a favour on behalf of a group of wild horses. Also, that's the colour of the first decent pic of a horse to come up when I google image searched :)

I'm not sure if it's elbows would allow it to rest its 'hand' on its other arm like that? I can't get my cats' front legs to do that. They are not the most willfully pliable of animals, though, so maybe they're just fidgeting too much. And where is its other wing and ear?

The colouring and expressions are nice!

Gryphons have eagle front legs, not lion, so they would bend "backwards", allowing this.

If that position is good enough for Sir John Tenniel, it's good enough for me :P

But you're completely right about the wing and ear, I feel like such a doofus (I even missed it in the shadow!). I may or may not get around to fixing this :)
