I and Cam just spent the weekend at Quay West Bunker Bay Resort. It was nice, if not worth whatever absurd price his company paid for the accommodation (we ended up spending enough just on incidentals like breakfast1)
Cam has put the photos up.
Me lounging in a robe watching Foxtel, because I thought it would make a nice photo :) (Though it is what I was doing. The robe turned out to be surprisingly scratchy)
The reason I was in a robe was that I had just had a bath2 to prepare for the formal dinner, where I wore the dress3
On Saturday morning Cam was still asleep so I walked to the beach (the grey buildings are the resort). There were a few stairs and I thought "That's not very disability accessible" then thought "But I guess you don't get a lot of wheelchairs on the beach"4...and then came across the Australian Disabled Surfers meet (they used large plastic mats, you can see their marquee in the previous photo)
Later we drove about a bit, including to the Margaret River Chocolate factory where I ate a small amount of chocolate even though it contained small amounts of soy. I regret nothing.
Just up the road from the resort (almost right on the pointy tip of the state) is this gorgeous bay. (Even Cam liked it :D)
The cook for the second dinner (at the Bunker's Beach Cafe) got very creative, normally they take my advice and just give me steak and steamed veggies, but he was adamant I tell him all my food issues and he'd "think of something", the smoked chicken + miso paste dressing was particularly nice. (I'm not 100% sure it was all Sophie friendly, but I seem to be ok today so I guess so)
Today was the long drive back. The cat was not happy to be moved about so much and meowed piteously during the drive back to our place, although she apparently got along ok with
distantcam's parents.
As much as it is nice to be home, I miss the decent aircon :)
1)Which was, admittedly, Oh So Tasty.
2)In the huge open plan bathroom. Which actually kind of sucked in that showers were unpleasantly drafty
3) ie This dress :)
4) I'm not sure how many people there are like me who can walk on the flat fine but have issues going up/down stairs. I think the variable height of sand dunes could make a ramp difficult, I don't know.
