Chambord

Cam bought some Chambord while we were away, and today I experimented with it in cooking. IT TASTES LIKE DELICIOUS LOLLIES

What it reminds me of most is redskins(*), obviously they also have a mix of rasberry and blackcurrent flavours.

I had a Chambord&Mozart dark chocolate liqueur(**) almond milk hot chocolate, which was OMG yum, and then red wine + Chambord spiced poached pears, which were also delicious (once I let them cool a little) and then I realised I was perhaps a little tipsy from sugar and inhaled alcohol (I boiled it all off since it upsets my tummy) and stopped. But..So Tasty. Mm.

(*)In retrospect, a very racist lolly
(**)Also tasty. And gluten, wheat, and dairy free!

Thus demonstrating one of the wierder Venn diagram exclusions of our respective food issues. All that berry, chocolate, nuts and wine is absolute no-no for me. Instant headache, and probably a couple of days of searing nerve pain.

Still... probably worth it.

BTW, sugar and alcohol, no problem.

It's funny isn't it? I'm hard pressed to think of a food that doesn't offend someone's dietary issues. (Hmm. No fibre or simple carbohydrates, no protein or fat or sugar or acid....lettuce?)

I can eat iceberg lettuce, but I saw a guy on an English food program yesterday who nearly vomited at the idea of eating anything green. That leaves... water?

Can everybody eat white rice?

*googles rice allergy*
*gets lots of hits*

Yeah, I think nothing is safe.

Aquagenic urticaria.

Which is more a don't-get-it-on-your-skin thing, but also I remember once reading about a guy who was allergic to water-as-a-drink - IIRC he had to drink fruit juices and suchlike.

Man, that guy would be in trouble at [livejournal.com profile] stephbg or my place...

hehe, I used some of that in the raspberry almond tarts I made on the weekend instead of brandy, yummo!
