What's wrong with the "please"? Or is the implication that you have to read the commenting rules?

I came by to say I found out the reply box size issue is a known, almost-fixed DW bug. (I found out here).

Yes, the lack of please is to indicate that it's not optional. Since from past experience not everyone has the same idea of what a "reasonable standard" to hold comments to is.
