More housekeeping!

  • I just removed everyone from my access list, with the plan of adding people back once I've decided what it's for(*)
  • If you're on my lj friends list but don't plan on subscribing or giving access to me here (an entirely understandable position) comment or send me a message letting me know about your account and I'll subscribe. (I should probably post this to lj at some point where they'll actually read it :))
  • If you're planning on double posting everything, let me know where you'd rather be friended/subscribed (I'm not watching both, life's too short :P)
  • For now I'm subscribing to everyone who subscribes to me but will likely have a mass defriending de-subscribing (?) and reorganisation come open beta.

Am I the only person who actually likes the idea of Dreamwidth being sustainably popular, but not as popular as lj? It could be a nice relatively small community.

(*)hopefully less people will take it personally than if I were to unsubscribe some people later. Not that I necessarily would, but I want a clean slate. Chances are the first time I do a locked post I'll decide to add everyone back or something :)

I do, but I fear that might make me an elitist. :)

I'm at that kind of place too and I struggle with it. It's sort of elitist and it is certainly excluding to people who have negative reactions to it (which would under many circumstances include myself) and yet some degree of elitism seems to be necessary for my own sanity and I am trying to find my happy place.

I quite like that it will be staying smallish for a while; it feels easier to read and comment on posts by random people (hello!) when there are so few of us.

By the way, you may be interested in taking a look at [personal profile] juliet's journal — she's currently living in Australia and recently posted about some cultural appropriation issues she's been thinking about.
