New page of ACOS! Could be better, don't care, I have So Much Stuff I need to catch up on after the move and this seemed the easiest. (Like, my birthday is coming up. Should do something about that)

Spent an hour and half waiting for a doctor to tell me it's a virus and I just need to rest, but on the plus side she told me to take paracetamol for my fever and whoa did it make a diference. I always underestimate the effect of aspirin and paracetamol on colds etc since they don't tend to help that much with actual pain.

The fine folk at [livejournal.com profile] the_rec_room gave me a really good list of lots of gen(*) fanfic which has definitely helped me while away my convolescence. Which reminds me(**) I have a post bubbling away in my brain about the divisions between fannish self and non fannish self, and anonymity and all that but it's well beyond my brain's fuzzy current state.

(*)Not sexually explicit, usually not romantic either. Rare stuff.
(**)Because I always feel a little weird mentioning fanfic/vids here. Not that you're not all nerds too :)

But you can delete comments or not allow commenting at all, no need to delete the entries. I think the hate mail (such as it was) was caused by the spamming anyway, not the entries themselves.

Someone with that IP posted her email address on my journal, and I'm wondering whether this is an incitation to hate mail.

Hmm..are you saying I'm trying to incite hatemail? Eh. Anyway, this is the way I see things.

First off, for context there was a Big Badness involving KA many years back, and as a result of that she and I stopped being friends and she earned the emnity of my then boyfriend, now fiance, Cam. I didn't want to go into past details but it seems the only way for this to make any sense, and since my attempts to keep my lj drama free seem to be doomed anyway...

So, we have:
Me (as alias_sqbr): wishes KA well though our relationship is strained by past and current behaviour
Anonymous 1: Cam, my fiance. Has no lj and has a bad habit of not signing his posts. Dislikes KA. Wrote a nasty comment expressing his annoyance at her, then another to make his identity clearer.
Anonymous 2 (on my lj): Is interested in what you think of KA.
Anonymous 3 (on your lj): Wants you to email KA

I'm pretty sure Anon 2 and 3 are KA. I've known her for like 11 years, and it certainly sounds like her.

Now I would assume that Anon 1 (Cam) and I would have the same IP, since we're in the same house on the same network.

Are you saying that Anon 1 (Cam) = Anon 2? In which case...hmm. Or just that Anon 2= Anon 3? In which case.. duh :) If Anon 3 wanted hatemail, they wouldn't have given her email address to one of the few people who didn't seem to mind being spammed.

I'm not saying that you're trying to incite hatemail, no.

I would simply like you to confirm that Anon 2 is Anon 3. Confirmation that they are both KA would also be good.

It would probably also be quite easy for you to confirm that Anon 1 is not Anon 3. Would you please do that?

Also, deleted second last comment. Please reply to this one.

Oops. Is the one I replied to ok? It looks ok. Interestingly, I didn't get notified of the contents of your mysterious deleted comment, just the fact that it was deleted. Unless the one I replied to is it, in which case why is it there? Ah, too confusing for me.

[identity profile] volandum.livejournal.com 2006-11-10 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha. The comment was along the lines of "Someone posted from 58.106.76.8 anonymously on my journal. Does this mean anything to you; can you identify that person?"

Hence possibly your suspicions of my accusing you of incitement.

GUH! This comment keep getting eaten! Not previewing this time, so apologies for any typos.

I do not know how to check IPs.

Cam says he is not Anons 2 or 3, I believe him.

Livejournal is annoying, sometimes.

[identity profile] volandum.livejournal.com 2006-11-10 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That's fine.

Okay. If you choose that IPs be recorded by posters, they will be recorded and kept for checking. Otherwise no problem.

I'll believe KA if she claims to be 2 or 3.

I see. Thank you for your help.

'Scool. I realised after posting that your reaction was perfectly reasonable. It seemed obvious to me who she was, but I've known her a heck of a lot longer.

Also, I was discussing this with Cam and he was like: "So you had an amusing comment about how you have a computer science degree but don't know how IPs work and livejournal ate it?" :)

[identity profile] volandum.livejournal.com 2006-11-10 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that is amusing.
