Even more queer youtube essays! I gave up on a lot of these, which is definitely more a function of having seen so many and wanting to be Done than a sign of the quality actually dropping.

BUT NOW I AM DONE. Watching (parts of) all these videos was a worthwhile experience, and I did actually find some new youtubers I like, but I am still glad to be finished.

I know this is old news (I saw a vague reference to this on a metaquotes discussion and googled it), but I just found it really bizarre seeing an ad actively promoting homophobia. I guess it hadn't really sunk in that that's what people were doing.

I imagine the others are just as bad but that was enough for me.

Am I the only heterosexual person who would have no problem with my kids reading gay fairytales? Then again, when I was a kid we used to play pretend at being lesbians(*) so, you know... :D

(*)I'm trying to think of a way to make this sound less weird, but in retrospect, it was pretty weird. Ironically, the only boy we let play is the only one of us who ended up actually being gay, afaict. See! No harm done!

I filled in my empty days stuck at home this month with the endless variety of the internet, specifically fanvids, which kept me happy right until I completely used up our quota (on and off peak)

First, The closest thing England has to a space program: the tv show Top Gear launches a space shuttle made out of a car (overall, according to Cam the "challenges" Top Gear dvd was very entertaining and well worth the cost of rental) Here's a bit about what Reliant Robins look like when not attached to a rocket

Secondly, a fanvid: Creep by BradCPU. Spike+Faith/Buffy+angst+Radiohead=love! Listening to the Coverville special consisting entirely of covers of "Creep", I was struck at how perfect it would be for a Spike/Buffy vid from Spikes POV (specifically, using a disconcertingly cheery cover and poking at the fact that Spike is not the lovable woobie he thinks he is, but that's just me) This is that vid, plus much more, and way better. It gives me chills, people. Chills!

No really, it's a movie.


Today was heaps of fun. Met up with mexicanjewlizrd (and none of the other people who expressed interest in free Scitech tickets, so I still have three for anyone who can be bothered getting them off me), watched..odd intepretive dance/comedy, harveystoat doing standup, and then did an animation workshop. I also chatted to a bunch of the staff which was really nice, and also saw Ken and meljane.

And then a driving lesson, with an instructor who was actually impressed with my ability (it was the first lesson. She will soon learn that while 11 years of intermittent lessons have gotten me to a mediocre standard, lifting my game any higher is harder than it looks)

Now, a hypothetical. Imagine you're a waitperson. You have the following conversation:
Customer: Can I have the chicken burger please, no sauce.
You: Not even barbeque sauce?
Customer: None. No mayonnaise, no tomato sauce, nothing but chicken, salad, and bread.
You: Got it.

Which of the following condiments do you put on the burger:
(a) Butter
(b) Mayonaise
(c) Cheese
(d) All of the above

If you said (d), congratulations! You're suitable to be hired by the "Club" cafe. *mutters*
