So LJ has finally crossed the line for me by not only having pop up ads which infect people's computers with a virus but infecting one of my friends in particular.

I have thus decided I will at some point swap over to cross-posting the stuff that currently goes in [livejournal.com profile] alias_sqbr from [personal profile] alias_sqbr (yes, keeping lj comments enabled).

But before I can do that I need to know: is there any easy to switch between two dreamwidth accounts? Preferably one that works in Safari.

*Tests out the crossposting footnote thing, which I only just figured out*

I haven't tried it myself, but this looks like it might do the trick:

I know they've said they want improved switching methods to make it more convenient for people in RPGs, so it may be that there's something better in the pipeline.

It's on the list of things DW wants to implement: http://bugs.dwscoalition.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76

If you're logged in as the
main account, you should be able to comment as/update as/manage settings
for/etc any of the alternate accounts, preferably with inline AJAX that will
reload/redraw things (so you have access to userpics, tags, etc) without having
to load the Work As User menu and re-input your password.

As far as I know, this is also supposed to work for commenting etc.

What I do is have two browsers on my computer -- one to stay logged in as [staff profile] denise, one to stay logged in as [personal profile] synecdochic. If you use Firefox, you can also set up an extension like CookieSwap!

Yeah, the main/alternate account system is something I totally want to do, to make things easier, but we haven't gotten to it yet. The separate-browsers thing is a nice workaround, though.

If you don't mind me asking, what's your second browser of choice?

One browser's Safari, the other's Firefox.

I'm looking to replace IE for my second login ^^; I'll check Safari out, thanks!
