Am currently preparing to take my learners again. Shut up.

Anyway, some of the questions on the practice test are downright amusing. About a third are along the lines of "In the following somewhat dangerous situation should you (a) Speed up (b) drive more carefully or (c) honk your horn?" Hmm let me think...
I must admit I got some of the questions wrong having forgotten who gets right of way, but there's some answers so dumb that I think anyone who chooses them should be permanently banned from driving, and possibly from being a pedestrian (see the post title, for example)

I got put on a lower dosage of antacid and spent yesterday feeling Very Ill, but on the plus side have found somewhere that sells lemon gaviscon (I seem to have developed a reaction to peppermint, which is unfortuntate since it's in 90% of over the counter stomach medication) Also cheered myself up by eating a banana and half a carton of no fat custard. Mmm...alkaline. (Pity I'm also somewhat allergic to dairy. Stupid stomach)

Finally, a big thankyou to everyone who wished me a happy birthday, I'm too lazy to reply to everyone saying "Thanks", but thanks :)

Saw "Superman Returns" last week1 (no, don't worry, no spoilers a comin') and while Brandon Routh did an ok job there was something..faintly creepy about him. It put me in mind of a plot I'm sure I must have seen somewhere: super powerful non-human-but-humanoid being, likes to see himself as human (even kind of a superhero) and falls for a human girl but somehow doesn't quite get it. A bit obsessive and emotionally weird, so the girl is flattered but at the same time aware that there's this unstoppable force which could be released on her/the world if she gets the guy upset. The best I can think of is Fifth from SGA but I know I've seen it somewhere else. So, anyone know what I'm thinking of?

You all absolutely have to read this comic. And then write more comics about me. Me!!!

Just made myself some low-fat halva/Rava Sheera2 (ie much less butter, skim milk), very nice indeed.

I'm hoping the antibiotics I'm on get rid of this cold (or whatever) so's I don't have to miss more work. Still, while going to the dentist3 has made me feel even more keenly the loss of last weeks wages, apparently my teeth are super healthy. They just hurt because I grind them in my sleep. Hmm.

1)Short review: good if you're expecting a belated sequel to the original (Parker Posy's character especially is so utterly 80's), bad if you're expecting something like "x-men"
2)I'm aware they're not the same thing, but my mangled recipe is about equally close to both :)
3)As reccomended by [livejournal.com profile] wintal

Taking the day off work because, well, I'm quite sick. But they're so busy I still feel bad, if it was just today I might ponder dragging myself in but I'm rostered on 3 more days this week and know from past experience that forcing myself to be energetic when I'm this buggered leads to Badness, especially a 7 hour shift. Ew.

Still feel bad though. The problem with me when I'm sick is I often don't feel that unwell...until I try to speak or move etc at which point I feel terrible. Actually, I geuss thats better than feeling terrible all the time.

Decided to google for which foods are acidic and was stymied by popular alternative health theory based on how acidic foods are once they're digested which for example classifies lemons as alkaline. After much searching eventually found this FDA page. Mental note: avoid cranberries.

The plus side of being fevered and slightly delirious (which I was last night, not so much now) is that things like that "Planet Earth" nature documentary become really absorbing. I want a pet snow leopard now.

Currently rewatching season 4+ Buffy, missing the episodes I remember being crap. Missed much of the end of season 4, pondering if I can be bothered with season 5.

I know many of you have exams, but I am in my own special little ball of stress right now. My Phd is due(*) on the 28th. That is, twelve days from today. To hand it in, I need at least one of supervisors to have read, checked, and approved my corrections. The description of these corrections takes 13 pages, and they are scattered throughout my 170(!) page thesis.

A week ago, I emailed all my supervisors with the corrected thesis (I would have done it earlier, but had a cold, then reflux, then my ear got infected. Guh.) Only to have Supervisor 1 (who is the only one familiar with all the maths) to reply with "Oh, but I'm leaving the country for four weeks. Tommorrow."
Supervisor 3 is in Hungary busy with a new baby and hasn't replied.
Supervisor 2...is apparently going to email me with her comments later today. Will she say it's all good? Will she say "You need to redo all of it"? Will she be baffled by the sections she's unfamilar with?? Argh!!!

I mean if neccesary I can go overtime, but that will almost certainly mean missing Terracon :(

Also, I lost one of my piercings when it got Horribly Infected.

On the plus side..uh...I saw Cars. It was ok. Also work is going well apart from feeling sleepy and having sore throats more than I would like.

(*)Yes, I already handed it in. Then it was marked, and I was given four months to fix all the errors they found. This is the usual way of such things, afaict.

It's not 100% done, but I don't want to give myself an excuse to work on it more tommorrow, so...the new version of the Circle of Stars website.
Any comments? The "latest news" section largely exists for aesthetic reasons :)

Not to get all tmi and whiny, but my reflux has been CRAZY recently. I nearly had to leave work early on Sunday, and I'm at the point of stopping eating before I'm full. Anyone who knows me at all can understand how bizarre this is! Anyway, hopefully I can get it back under control.

EDIT: God and don't get me started about my ear.

My arm is sore, making it difficult to type, and I am almost completely out of cash, yet somehow..I feel happy :)

That is all.

Hello! I am sick, getting better. Disturbingly, again I have an attack of "I woke up on the wrong side of the bed" (tired, sore throat, aches. I get these pretty often and they usually go away by lunchtime) lasting several days.

Anyway, I have regardless labored over a hot keyboard (which was so overworked it had to be replaced! Also, I spilled water on it *cough*) to give not one but TWO new comics. First is the latest page of ACOS, which isn't that exciting and I actually did a while ago but SECOND is a new comic on Hapless. Yes, finally, a name for my photoblog! How exciting.

I think I put too much sugar on my porridge and should have a lie down. And of course I may well decide to change the name once I'm better and I am returned to my regularly scheduled brain.

Just saw physiotherapist, apparently I need orthotics and lotsa podiatry, and so should get health insurance. Are there any funds people have good experiences with? I'm just thinking Extras of some type. I don't see how they can make money and I can save money at the same time, so I'm a little dubious.

He taped up my knees, it feels really wierd. They keep complaining that they don't feel right, but given they've stopped being in pain for ther first time in a while, I'm not paying any attention. Also, I would be drawing Circle of Stars (I have set out the entire plotline! Though I still have some details to iron out) but my wrist cramps up when I try to draw. Stupid body! You're 26! Be healthy dammit!

Man am I buggered. Stupid irony. I told Cam I would only play the Pin Pals Wednesday Night Boardgames if we left at 10 or so rather than starting another game and staying till midnight+. Which would have worked if the first game (Settlers and Knights of Kataan) hadn't lasted four and a half hours. This game is won by the first person to get 14 points. For the last hour or two we had almost entirely used up all avenues for point making between us and the scores were like 10, 12, 13, 13. Guh.

Also, this morning I came accross this itty bitty baby honeyeater that had fallen out of it's nest :( It was so cute. I knocked on the door of the house it was in front of and this nice old man came out and said he'd take care of it, I hope it's ok.
