Since I promised [livejournal.com profile] ataxi...
(friends locked again to avoid messing up my page, and it limits how many questions I have to answer, specially since not everyone on my friends list has friended me)

Hmm...so. Since this is a meme, I will adapt it to my own tastes. Reply if you wish to be analysed by my Ginormous Brain. You will recieve each of the following free gifts not neccesarily in this order:

1) Something about you which, in my opinion, is true.
2) Something about you which, in my opinion, is false.
3) Something which makes me think of you. Or possibly whatever pops into my head.
4) A question which you must answer. Or at least, respond to in a way approximating an answer.
5) There is no five, unless I think of one later.

-Horses. Sorry, but they do :)
-Your surname is a reference to the fact that your family came from an area famed for it's archers.
-Why japanese?
-You are taller than me. Also, your hair looks better longer (not that it looks bad short)

I did some in highschool (mostly long forgotten though), and it's interesting and different. :) Also, it'd be neat to be able to go over there on a holiday (it's a place I've wanted to see for a while) and attempt to speak to people :)
Monday, June 27th, 2005 12:39 pm (UTC)
Meme me, please! =D

Thank you :)

Not sure as of yet. Want to do pediatrics. My brother thinks my nature might be more suited to lab stuff along the lines of pathology though for some reason. Surgery would be wonderful. Pediatric surgeon? My marks would have to improve a hell of a lot though. But I think 4th, 5th and 6th year will help me decide because we'll spend all our times in rotations, doing 6-8 weeks of the main specialities, e.g. geriatrics, pediatrics, obs/gyn, surgery, infectious diseases etc.

-The first time we met we were convinced we'd met before.
-This is because we had met before, but our memories were wiped by aliens for no particular reason.
-Yellow and maroon stripes.
-I don't know, what do you think I should ask?
-Stop!
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 06:49 am (UTC)
That's a copout!

I dunno, maybe you could ask me why I play bridge, or why I never recommend books to you.
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 06:52 am (UTC)
Pfft, like "where do you get your mathematical brain" is better :P

So: Why do you never reccomend me books? (Apart from "The Last Herald Mage"- or was my reaction to that the reason?)
Monday, June 27th, 2005 03:40 pm (UTC)
twisting the meme a little...

1) You're fun to annoy.
2) You get hideously violent and super scary when you actually do get annoyed.
3) Op-shops - because you seem to be so succesful with them!
4) Have you made a virtual tour of your current house?
5) The proof that can be expressed is not the true proof.
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 02:56 am (UTC)
I'm feeling a bit unwell, so the others will have to wait, but this I can answer: yes. It's about three years old, and kind of crap, mind you.
Monday, June 27th, 2005 04:45 pm (UTC)
Meme away, Sophmeisterinohead.
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 03:43 am (UTC)
-Can I borrow your copy of that Mountain Goats album with "No Children"?
-You're actually quite short, you just have really good posture.
-Record/cd stores.
-You own more cds than my entire family (possibly not including cousins)
Monday, June 27th, 2005 05:06 pm (UTC)
Hooray for memage!
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 06:27 am (UTC)
-The reason you have a beard is to cover the disfiguring scar left by the removal of your evil siamese twin, mafia boss Dan "The Big Cheese" Cake.
- Why do you and [livejournal.com profile] doctor_k_ have different surnames?
-Your house (and household) is very interesting.
-There is nothing to see here.
-Stuff by Alan Moore.
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 11:20 am (UTC)
Why would we make them the same just because we are married?
To be more specific
- neither of us really believe in a wife taking husbands name.
- its a pain to change your name professionally
- Cake is a silly name. Maybe if I'd had a particularly cool name she might have been more tempted.

PS we did consider changing both our names to Fantasia...

Sorry, I realised after I posted that it sounded like I was thinking it was crazy-wierd, which I don't. I'm just always curious to know what makes people decide to take the path less travelled.

Personally I'm quite happy to stop being an Ambrose, even if only in name (I like my dads family, but..*ahem*) and like the idea of me, Cam, and our kids all having the same surname, and I have a real soft spot for celtic etc names :) But I can certainly see why other women would keep their name, it's one of those holdovers from our mysogynistic past thats pretty creepy from certain angles.

yo
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 07:15 am (UTC)
-I am deeply paranoid that I will accidentally poison you at Terracon.
-The bladedancers, I assume their blades are magical or like lightsabers or something?
-Cocoa, along with the thought "This has wheat?"
-You are a spy, I'm not sure who for. (The japanese perhaps? Or perhaps you work for us, and will later be spying on them. Hmm...)
Thursday, June 30th, 2005 09:47 am (UTC)
I totally missed this what with the thousand plus emails in my inbox ^_^;; WUPS

The swords used by bladedancers are not like lightsabers, they are actual swords, metal and all. They are slightly "magical" when they glow, although I am actually going with a technological explanation for that (just don't ask me to tell you what that is!) So unless they are set to glow, they are just like normal everday swords. Except, you know, being made in a certain style and a certain way. :D
Thursday, June 30th, 2005 01:26 pm (UTC)
I forgive you, I suppose.
Monday, June 27th, 2005 06:48 pm (UTC)
Neat!
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 07:18 am (UTC)
-How goes the househunting?
-You can move small objects with the power of your mind.
-Motorbikes.
-Your writing reminds me of WebSnark.
-Lemon Meringue Pie.
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 08:12 am (UTC)
We've applied for a house; it remains to be seen if we'll get it, but if we do it will be yay. :)

And thank you. I think. ;)
Wednesday, June 29th, 2005 11:18 am (UTC)
It was meant as a compliment :)
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 04:53 am (UTC)
*blinks*
Wednesday, June 29th, 2005 10:53 am (UTC)
Sorry, I was all bored and sick yesterday, but today I was all motivated to do stuff so you had to wait :) Also, plum out of inspiration. Hmm....

-Has [livejournal.com profile] the_riviera_kid managed to convince you that Maths is Cool?
-Or did you think so already? Really? Ahhh...you're just saying that.
-Dragons, especially little statuettes. Though the really tacky ones make me think of [livejournal.com profile] oliverm, since he bought some once, they were dreadful :)
-Your hair is naturally blue, but you think blonde and brown are prettier. (Clever how you got your roots to grow out that way)
-You have given me lots of food, what more needs to be said?
Tuesday, June 28th, 2005 06:42 am (UTC)
All the cool kids are doing it, so now I want in. Please.
Wednesday, June 29th, 2005 10:57 am (UTC)
-You are annoyingly clever.
-You are in fact an evil genius plotting to take over the world!
-Or maybe just the engineering department.
-Finished your Phd yet? Huh?
-Red dwarf.

(I would just like to say, this is the first lj comment I can ever remember where I had NO Spelling mistakes. Well, till noww :))
Thursday, June 30th, 2005 01:40 am (UTC)
Too many cool kids.
Thursday, June 30th, 2005 04:47 am (UTC)
-are you animal, mineral, or vegetable?
-Sorry, but given the title of the post I had to ask someone :)
-(Comparatively) expensive retro op-shops.
-The only reason you and [livejournal.com profile] davyd aren't married is you're waiting for me and Cam so you can steal all our ideas. Little do you know we got married already in secret and just like watching you wait. Haha!
- You manage to be unique and interesting without coming across as the least bit crazy, a rare gift :)
Wednesday, April 16th, 2008 11:33 am (UTC)
I humbly submit for analysis by your Ginormous Brain.
Friday, April 18th, 2008 01:23 am (UTC)
1) You have totally awesome hair (also, shoes) which you carry off better than most people would be able to.
2) The green in your hair symbolises what you feel is your true form, a green skinned alien from the planet Cybertrax.
3) Shiny long black boots with stilletto heels :)
4) I know it's dull but: why shrydar?
5) There is no five, unless I think of one later.

Thank you :)

I spent a lot of time playing MUDs in 3rd year uni, and at the time I was reading a fair amount of fat-fantasy (eddings, donaldson, etc). I wanted to invent a user name for MUDding that was wizardly but not obviously lifted directly from any of the individual characters I was reading about, and it sounded about right.

I've toyed with moving on from time to time, but it seems to be globally unique - I think saw someone else using it for an account name on an online game once, but they're now lost in the 1710(!) google hits that all appear to refer to me. It's quite handy having something that is unambiguously me.

You know, I feel like I've heard that story before, but I think that's just because [livejournal.com profile] kadeton has an almost identical story :)

I discovered a Sorenson Br-something- using the username sqbr, but he only comes up in like norwegian geological reports, and I beat him on google by quite a bit, so I can live with it :)
